Welcome to BassWheels.com! A web site designed to explore various options
for transporting upright Basses, and which specifically asks the question,
"Are End Pin Wheels the best and safest way to transport your bass?"

Is it possible to transport your bass while keeping it
inside of its padded, soft shell case?

This is a very important aspect of transporting your bass! Think about it: the longer your bass remains inside of its padded case or bag, the better protected it is! As soon as your bass is taken out of the bag/case, it is much more susceptible to damage: whether it be a minor scratch or a hole punched in the side of the bass (both of those have happened to my bass at times when it was outside of its padded case!).

Depending upon the type of bass wheel you are considering, and depending upon the type of bag/case that you own, it may be possible to use the bass wheel while the bag/case is on the bass. This could be accomplished by having the bag partially unzipped and the bass wheel protruding from the bottom of the bag.

Does the Bass Buggie allow the bass to remain
inside the padded bag/case during transport?

The KC Strings Bass Buggie uses a quick-lock bungie cord to securely attach to the bass. The ingeniuos design of the Buggie and its flexibile straps means that you can use the Buggie while your bass remains protected inside of its padded case! When you are attaching the buggie to your bass it is recommended that the end-pin protrude partially from the bottom of the bag/case. As long as your padded case has two zippers this is easily accomplished by having the two zippers meet at the bottom of the bag, one on each side of the end pin.

This is the one area, out of the five concerns, where the typical bass wheel will perform in a similar fashion to the bass buggie: as long as your padded case/bag has two zippers, the wheel or buggie can be operated while the bass is inside of the padded case/bag.

No matter whether you choose a bass wheel or the buggie, always try to keep your bass inside of the padded case/bag for as long as possible!
